Good Lord! February just snuck up on a sista. Well, since I haven't blogged for the past few weeks and I have a ton of stuff to blog about, I'm just gonna do a January wrap up in this post. Got it? Good.YT Update
For everyone who asked why YT took my account down, it's because I had been accused of copyright infringement for posting videos from the Prince tribute concert that I went to in early January. I didn't even have time to post the videos on my blog and here they come tearing a sista down. YT had previously snatched one of my videos offline with a similar claim (one of my Gilbert Arenas videos--but not the other, go figure) so when I got hit with back-to-back notices about three of my seven videos from that concert, that was all they needed to shut me down.Despite my please baby, please baby, baby, baby please email, the bastids didn't reinstate my account. I guess I'd have to be Perez Hilton for that to happen but since I'm a few shades darker and not on VH1, it didn't happen. Oh well, tis what it tis.But don't despair, folks. The re-up has already begun. Click here for my new YT channel and please update your links and subscribe. It's gonna take a minute to get all my videos back online and upload new ones, but they can't hold me down!Meet the Bloggers

I met three of my favorite bloggers in history one day last month. Mwabi from African Girl in an American World was in town for business and she hit me and Darbs from Journey Back to Joy up saying that she wanted to meet for lunch. We hooked up along with Roxanne, one of Mwabi's partners from Jamati Online, at one of my fave spots in the area, The Jerk Pit, and chatted over Jamaican delicacies for a few hours.Later that evening I got a chance to meet Will of Dawson's Ink after the Eric Roberson and Teedra Moses concert at The Black Cat. He missed the majority of Erro's show, but I didn't give him the side-eye too strong because he had a good reason. It was fantastic to meet and chop it up with him for a few minutes after being a fan of his for so long. And how could I forget meeting thee Sweetlocs from MySpace after the Eric Roberson show on the first of the year!Oh, and I also hung out with Vivrant Thang and nOva at the Prince tribute concert earlier in the month, but I hang with them all the time. That ain't news!
Concert Count
Speaking of concerts, your girl was jammin' in January for real, for real. From Philadelphia to Jamaica, I was getting my groove on all month. Here are all of the people I saw perform live last month:- Eric Roberson and ChinahBLAC at World Cafe Live
- Eric Roberson, Raheem DeVaughn, Martin Luther, Navasha Daya, Wes Felton, Wayna, zWei and Deborah Bond at the Prince Tribute at the 930 Club
- Martin Luther and Derek at Bohemian Caverns
- Eric Roberson and Teedra Moses at The Black Cat
- Anita Baker, Jill Scott, Diana Ross, Billy Ocean, Mary Mary, Ryan Shaw, Chalice and more at the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival
And the year is still young! The Eric Roberson ChroniclesAlthough I haven't updated my Eric Roberson Chronicles in forever-ever, that doesn't mean that I haven't been keeping up with my boy. Quite the contrary, as I'm sure you noticed above that I saw Eric Roberson perform three times last month. That brings my Erro concert/performance count up to 10 since my first time in October 2006. Don't be jelly, Fave. ;0)
Jamaican Me Crazy
How horrified was I to see that the last stamp in my passport from Jamaica was in 2003? THE HELL? That is beyond unacceptable. Growing up in South Florida, my Mom and I used to go home at least once a year, if not more. She now visits a few times a year while I freeze my bits off in DC with nary a vacation for the past few years. Well, that all changed a couple weeks ago because my Mom and I went to Montego Bay together for the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival to celebrate her birthday. While DC was an icebox where my heart used to be, I was luxuriating in 80+ degree temperatures and basking in the sunshine, refreshing my tan lines and getting more freckles.I. So. Needed. That.

Weighing Me DownIt's been six months since I restarted Weight Watchers, and I have lost 25.8 pounds. Not exactly Biggest Loser-type numbers after being at this since July, but I'm thankful nonetheless. Lord knows I couldn't have the numbers on the the scale keep going in the other direction any longer. After attending meetings at two groups that I wasn't really feeling, I found a meeting in October that was both convenient and had a leader that is a true cheerleader and extremely encouraging. At the last meeting I received a medal and a magnet for losing 25 pounds. Go me!Have I followed the program to a T? Until recently, no. But in January I started tracking everything that I eat on WeightWatcher.com's eTools, and it is truly the bomb. I'm loving it like a Fiber One Oats & Chocolate bar (more on my favorite low-cal food finds in another blog).I'm trying to stay positive and encouraged, and it helps that my best friend just joined the program in Chicago and another friend of mine just joined my group this past weekend since she wants to be fit and fabulous at forty and she has two years to go. Go us!Right now my first goal is to lose 50 pounds by my birthday in August. Can I do it? Hell to the yes! Now where are those carrot sticks?Labels: Butta About Town, Concert Connection, Good Times, Healthy Choice, The Eric Roberson Chronicles
As for that 80° weather in Jamaica you're braggin' about, miss thing? That was all up in and through big D today. ;) lol I'm so glad you got to go! Yes, you DID need to get away.
I heard you met Will. I did too when he toured through here the other day. Nice guy. Real nosy though. lol (Hi, Will!! *waving*)
Janauary went by like a fart in the wind. I love all of the phot recaps too. Have great week and keep doing what you do.
Back in the day we used to ask for Grammy recaps, but is there really a point anymore? What a mess!
I haven't seen you at all in '08. How did I miss you at the Erro/Teedra jont? This displeases me. Can we fix this?
I would be jelly of your Jamaica situation except that I'll be in St. Kitts in less then two weeks. Yee-ti-dee!
