Butta On...Lenny Kravitz Got Me Wide Open

So who saw
Lenny Kravitz on the American Music Awards last night? Swing low sweet chariot and carry me home, THAT BROTHA KILLED IT. In the aftermath of non-singing bastids by the likes of Akon, T-Pain, and Rihanna (yeah, I said it) performing or winning awards on the show, Lenny singing "I'll Be Waiting" was a much-needed breath of fresh air because this show was on a respirator.

I was out at a concert when the show aired live, but when I got home I just put the AMA's on to clean out my DVR while I wrote for a spell. I was underwhelmed for the most part, but when Roxie Roker's baby boy took to the stage, I was wide open like Wal-Mart's doors on Black Friday. WHEW! I already loved the song but this performance was on some next level stuff. Dude was SANGIN' and tickling those ivories. It was simply lovely to see and hear real talent on that stage. I think by now I've probably watched his performance about 25 times now. So much for cleaning out my DVR.

A video for "I'll Be Waiting" is in the works and Lenny shot a little promo joint a few weeks ago:

And in the event that you haven't heard the song yet, here it is:

Lenny's new CD, Love Revolution, is scheduled to come out on February 5, 2008.

I think we all concur that mentioning "sing", T-Pain and Akon in the same sentence is blasphemy...the best performances of the night, along with Lenny, were A-Keys and Chris Brown *sounding like Dela in Harlem Nights* I love dat lil' 'ole boy!
