Butta On...Jill Scott Is The Illest
Swing low sweet chariot and carry me home!

Because Jill Scott has slayed my everloving soul with that phenomenal (albeit brief) concert she just performed on VH1 Soul. If you missed SoulStage: Jill Scott, then you missed a master class in soul sangin'.

After watching the half-hour concert (and subsequent half-hour video block), I am so geeked for Jill's new CD to drop that it don't make no good sense. I am wide open after hearing full-length versions of some of her new songs, such as the title track "The Real Thing" and "Whenever You're Around."

VH1 Soul will be replaying this special throughout the week so check the site for showtimes. In the event you don't have VH1 Soul, here's Jill's live performance of "Hate On Me" (which was actually left on the cutting room floor):

I tell you, that release date won't get here soon enough. I don't buy many cds, but I always make sure that I purchase a Jill Scott cd. Setting the TiVo now to catch Jill on VH1 Soul.
